Solent Gateway Ltd has been honoured with a Bronze Award in recognition of their work in supporting the armed forces.
The award was made through the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) and is in recognition of moves to recruit Sponsored Reservists and of the company’s support of the army at Marchwood Military Port in Hampshire.
Last year Solent Gateway won a 35 year concession to manage military movements in and out of Marchwood and to explore longer term sustainable options for developing unused parts of the site for commercial purposes.
The company is currently recruiting around 50 Sponsored Reserves to deliver port support services there and around the world to support UK strategic defence requirements.
The ERS recognises commitment and support from UK employers for defence personnel. The scheme comprises bronze, silver and gold awards for employers who support those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families.
‘We are delighted to have received this recognition so early in our contract with the Ministry of Defence. It is an excellent foundation for us to build a productive and successful relationship with the army here in Hampshire and we will be pressing for silver and gold in the years to come’
said Solent Gateway chairman, Capt Sam Judah MBE.
The company’s recognition and more about the scheme can be viewed on the the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme website.
